The Diplomatico collection from Venezuela showcase a full spectrum of Caribbean class in their combination of column and pot still rums. One of the company's more recent offerings, Diplomatico Blanco, was launched at the UK Rumfest in October 2008, and has already won the prestigious title of ‘Master’ in the White Rum category at the inaugural Rum Masters 2009 held by the respected trade magazine "The Spirits Business". Rums employed are aged up to six years (Venezuelan law dictates that the youngest component must have been aged for at least two years) and include a 50/50 combination of light column distilled rums and heavy pot still styles. The rum is then filtered and treated with charcoal to achieve its transparency and softness. In many respects, this is surprisingly similar to Diplomatico's Reserva expression - only with the colour stripped out.
